Horizon Recruitment Inc. has been engaged to find an Accounting Clerk to join our local distribution client. This person will be responsible for managing the AP/AR function including collections and general bookkeeping. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to kick start their career in accounting or are looking for a stable position where they can continue their career. This is a 6 month contract to perm opportunity, and if taken perm will be given more responsibilities within the accounting team.
Responsibilities:
- Owning the accounts receivable function (invoicing, collections*, and processing payments), including related AP freight invoicing.
- Prepare and process bank deposits, as needed.
- Reconcile and facilitate warranty receivable inventory related items and coordinate with supply chain on recovery efforts.
- Assisting with period closing journal entries (fixed asset depreciation, prepaid expense recognition, various accruals etc.).
- Assisting the senior accountant with financial and tax audits.
- Documenting and monitoring internal controls in support of auditing team.
- Reception greeting & coordinating coffee and stationary orders.
- Producing ad-hoc reports as requested.
- Prepare and reconcile all credit card statements, working with CC holders to ensure policy adherence.
Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and high stress environment.
- Accounts receivable, AP freight invoices, and collections experience would be considered an asset but not required.
- Experience processing bank deposits.
- Strong communication skills and positive attitude.
Rewards:
- $20/hr - $25/hr
