Horizon Recruitment is currently working with a large, complex organization with a wide variety of holdings across North America and Europe to seek a detail-oriented and analytical Assistant Controller to join their finance team. This newly created role will focus on corporate consolidated reporting, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting at the consolidated level. The Assistant Controller will work closely with various departments to aggregate and analyze financial data, maintain internal controls, and support the preparation of financial statements in accordance with corporate guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements and reports.
- Coordinate with subsidiary controllers and finance teams to gather and consolidate financial information.
- Analyze consolidated financial results to identify trends, discrepancies, and variances; provide actionable insights and recommendations.
- Oversee the consolidation and reporting of capital expenditures (CapEx) across the corporate structure, ensuring accurate tracking and alignment with budgeted amounts and strategic objectives.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of financial reporting systems and tools.
- Support external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to internal controls and accounting policies across the corporate structure.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and financial analyses for senior management as needed.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of reporting processes and the implementation of best practices.
Requirements:
- CPA or equivalent designation required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial reporting, with at least 2 years in a consolidations or corporate reporting role.
- Strong understanding of consolidated financial reporting, GAAP, and internal controls.
- Proficiency in financial reporting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to perform complex calculations and create detailed financial models.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across different departments and levels of the organization.
- Experience with external audits and regulatory compliance is a plus.
Rewards:
$90,000 - $120,000 depending on experience
