Horizon Recruitment Inc. has been engaged to conduct a search for an Assistant Controller focused on corporate reporting and all subsidiaries. Overseeing a talented team, this person will work with other parts of the finance team to ensure reporting is in compliance with all regulatory and US GAAP requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the management of the Corporation’s accounting and financial reporting including internal reporting requirements to the board and executive leadership team
- Responsible for regulatory filings related to the Corporation’s requirements as a Foreign Private Issuer on the New York Stock Exchange and other public filing requirements related to various listed debt securities
- Demonstrates an understanding of the technical issues facing a corporation that operates in several international jurisdictions
- Under the direction of the accounting leadership team, operates as a partner to the business by providing them with excellent reporting and analysis that supports effective decision making throughout the organization
- Ensures effective internal controls are implemented, updated, and followed; also ensures the accuracy of information and safeguards company’s assets
- Works with auditors to ensure financial statements fairly present the financial position of the corporation and all transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and statutory requirements
- Participates and leads finance transformation initiatives to optimize the financial close and reporting processes by leveraging best practices and technology
- Monitors variance reporting against budget and forecast
- Monitors, and implements processes to enhance accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting to support corporate strategy and decision making
- Manages a team and communicates expectations to direct reports, manages performance; provides leadership and training to the accounting and finance operations teams
- Works with internal audit on continuous improvement initiatives and development of best practices
- Identifies and takes steps to monitor and mitigate risks
Requirements:
- 3+ years of leadership experience ideally with a combination of public practice and industry experience (CPA, CA designation preferred)
- Experience with US and/or international entities considered an asset
- Experience with international operations
- Project management and/or system integration experience
- Will be required to work outside normal hours to meet deadlines and accommodate time zone differences
Rewards:
- $130,000 - $150,000 + Bonus
