Horizon Recruitment has an immediate need for a Manager of Payroll & Governance for our large industrial manufacturing client. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in full cycle accounting and a strong understanding of payroll processes.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the integrity and accuracy of the payroll and HR general ledgers
- Oversight and approval of month-end and year-end close procedures including reconciliations, journal entries and adjustment of entries
- Develops and document processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Review and signs off on all payroll registers in conjunction with Payroll Manager (dual sign-off)
- Assist in the creation of labour analytics for all parts of the business
- Key role in internal control over financial reporting as it related to payroll processes
- Analyze & interpret financial results to assist and advise the leadership team
- Participates in the technology transformation project
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting; CGA/CMA/CPA or equivalent required.
- 7–10 years of experience in senior accounting or financial management, providing full cycle accounting and preparation of financial statements
- 3–5 years of management & leadership experience
- Payroll & benefits accounting experience.
- Tact, diplomacy, and discretion in handling information of a confidential and/or sensitive nature
- Proven record of integrity and trust
- High level of customer focus and service orientation
- Demonstrated success as a team player and proven resiliency in moving the team forward
- Effectively able to prioritize workload and work under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Advanced user knowledge in Excel, Word and Outlook
- Previous experience with JD Edward desired
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and related financial reporting requirements;
- Strong demonstrated knowledge of best practices in accounting, reporting, and financial services;
- Strong demonstrated knowledge in ERP (JDE or equivalent) Business Systems;
- Experience with data mining applications, preferably Business Intelligence;
- Strong demonstrated knowledge of analytical techniques and financial concepts to define and solve complex problems;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and effective listening skills;
- Proficient in MS-Office (Excel /Word/Outlook/PowerPoint/Visio)
