Horizon Recruitment has an immediate requirement for a Strategic Sourcing Specialist with strong sourcing skills and category management experience. This role will focus heavily on major equipment sourcing including leasing, maintenance, and purchases of critical project equipment.


This is an interim contract consulting engagement starting on a 1 year term with great potential for extensions. Our client works on a hybrid work model: 4 days in-office, with the option to work remotely on Monday or Friday.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with client groups to define, analyze, and prioritize requirements in alignment with their long-term business strategy.
  • Plan and execute all stages of the sourcing process to meet timelines and strategic objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through sourcing, evaluation, supplier negotiation, and contract implementation.
  • Monitor and manage compliance with sourcing strategy and business processes.
  • Oversee the entire contract management life cycle, ensuring proactive administration to support end users.
  • Manage or assist in managing contracts and supplier performance, resolving any performance issues promptly.
  • Utilize expertise in corporate business needs and market understanding to recommend improvements in sourcing and contract processes.
  • Stay updated on supply market trends, supplier economics, and best practices in sourcing and contract management.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance the capabilities of the supply base and key business processes.
  • Report performance data for assigned categories and key business processes.
  • Work collaboratively across functions to ensure full understanding and support of category management, sourcing, and contract management processes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key contacts at all levels.


Requirements:

  • In depth knowledge of major equipment lease agreements is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Over 5 years of experience in category management for contract services and goods.
  • Strong skills in strategic planning, project management, process improvement, innovation, and team building.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions, foreseeing market trends to stay ahead of the competition.
  • Proven negotiator with a successful track record in vendor relations and product/service assessment.
  • Experience in collaboration and team building across the enterprise.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all company levels and communicate complex ideas effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills, able to manage competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, and Project).
  • Strong aptitude for data mining, formulas, and logical thinking.

 

Rewards:

  • Target range $65 – 75/hr, candidates with specific rail car experience and in-depth strategic sourcing experience may command more.
