Just HR has an immediate opening for a skilled Environmental Coordinator who will make a meaningful impact on the environment while contributing to exciting construction projects. This one year term contract is a key role on the project team and has excellent potential for additional one year extensions. As an Environmental Coordinator you’ll take on a pivotal role in shaping the success of our environmental and regulatory programs. From developing management plans to coordinating field studies, this is your opportunity to bring your expertise to a dynamic and supportive team. This position is based at our client's project site, offering a 10-days-on, 4-days-off rotation.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Environmental and Construction Management Teams to offer expert advice on environmental initiatives.
  • Facilitate the creation, implementation, and ongoing management of an Environmental and Social Management System by delivering environmental training, raising awareness, and assisting in identifying environmental impacts and aspects.
  • Maintain and implement standards for environmental performance within the project framework.
  • Track and ensure adherence to environmental and regulatory requirements, including relevant regulations, permit conditions, and internal/external commitments.
  • Provide data and prepare reports for submission to regulatory authorities within required timeframes.
  • Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to address environmental considerations during construction and operational phases.
  • Coordinate and conduct environmental site audits and inspections, identifying hazards, recommending improvements, and following up on corrective or preventive actions.
  • Develop and deliver environmental orientations and training sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Assist in environmental incident reporting, investigation, and follow-up, ensuring corrective actions are identified and implemented.
  • Plan and execute Environmental Effects Monitoring programs to meet regulatory, corporate, and community expectations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to monitor, document, and report on compliance with environmental performance indicators and regulatory conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in an environmental role.
  • Familiarity with working in remote construction or operational environments, especially on rotational schedules.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable federal and provincial environmental legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Proven ability to adapt and remain effective in fast-paced, evolving work conditions.
  • Skilled in planning, problem-solving, and coordinating activities across teams.
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven mindset and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Capable of managing workloads and meeting deadlines efficiently.
  • Committed to fostering a culture of health, safety, and environmental excellence.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data management systems.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and a clean driving abstract.

Compensation:

  • $60 - 70/hr
