Just HR is recruiting for a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join a fast-growing company operating internationally in a unique and exciting niche market. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, this newly created position will play a pivotal role in shaping payroll, compensation, and HR processes. You’ll work closely with both Human Resources and Finance teams, gaining exposure to innovative practices and dynamic growth opportunities. Responsibilities:

Compensation

  • Manage semi-monthly and monthly payroll for a workforce of 90+ employees, mainly based in Canada.
  • Support employees with payroll-related forms, such as TD1s, while ensuring timely resolutions to their queries.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll tax, CPP, EI, and other statutory deductions.
  • Prepare statutory documents such as T4s and ROEs in line with annual reporting deadlines.
  • Reconcile and maintain accurate records for vacation, leave, and time-off balances.
  • Leverage HRIS payroll functionalities to streamline processes and enhance company practices.
  • Collaborate with external payroll service providers to ensure accurate payroll administration.
  • Manage fitness benefits and other compensation programs.
  • Provide critical payroll data analysis to inform budgeting and decision-making.

Benefits

  • Act as a point of contact between employees and benefit providers, addressing inquiries and facilitating claims.
  • Administer employee enrollment in benefit programs and execute necessary plan updates.
  • Maintain accurate communication with benefit providers, pension administrators, and other stakeholders.

Administration

  • Assist in compliance with employment standards, internal policies, and contractual agreements.
  • Contribute to external audits, pay equity studies, and employee surveys.
  • Support the onboarding process by ensuring payroll, HRIS, and benefits systems are fully operational.
  • Generate data insights and analysis to support HR and Finance initiatives.
  • Participate in projects focused on process enhancements and operational improvements.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation, completed or currently in progress.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll, benefits, and compensation management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to detect and resolve discrepancies.
  • Proven ability to configure and optimize workflows in payroll and HRIS systems; experience with Payworks is an asset.
  • Knowledge of federal labor standards and payroll processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Background in finance or accounting is considered an advantage.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle tight deadlines effectively.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable working with employees and leaders across all organizational levels.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to continuous improvement in all aspects of work.

Remuneration:

$70,000 – $85,000 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
