Just HR is looking for a skilled Payroll & Total Rewards Specialist to join our client’s expanding HR team. This role reports to a supportive senior HR leader and collaborates closely with HR, Finance, and Accounting teams. Additionally, you will address employee inquiries related to payroll matters. The ideal candidate is a seasoned payroll professional with experience in managing long-term incentive programs and benefits invoice reconciliations. Responsibilities:
- Manage changes, review, and approve monthly international payrolls prepared by third-party providers
- Process and balance semi-monthly payroll for about 150 employees in Canada
- Prepare monthly AD&D invoices for self-reporting
- Review and reconcile US and Canada benefits invoices monthly
- Review and reconcile monthly Group RRSP/401K contributions
- Oversee annual workers’ compensation and WCB renewals internationally
- Administer Group RRSP/401K and handle annual testing/reporting
- Handle annual international benefits renewals
- Manage third-party LTIP administration and prepare related paperwork
- Process annual salary increments and bonuses (cash and shares)
- Assist in implementing new equity administration or payroll software
- Prepare and submit annual compensation surveys
- Analyze compensation survey outcomes against existing pay bands and employee compensation; recommend annual pay band adjustments
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in a related field preferred (diploma, certificate, or bachelor’s degree).
- Experience in preparing, processing, and balancing full-cycle Canadian payroll
- PCP certification from the Canadian Payroll Association is required.
- Ability to review and reconcile benefits invoices, including wellness plans
- Experience managing Group Retirement programs (RRSP, 401K) Skill in reviewing international payrolls to ensure accurate calculations and changes
- Proficiency in preparing Excel templates for ongoing payroll and benefits reconciliation tasks
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel; Power BI experience is a plus
- Minimum of 5 years of full-cycle Canadian payroll experience using ADP
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to provide actionable recommendations
- US and other international payroll experience is a plus
- Experience setting up hypothetical tax and coverage certificates for expatriates with international shadow payrolls is a plus
- Commitment to process improvement, standardization, and best practices
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in reconciling benefits invoices for accuracy and with payroll deductions and taxable benefits
- Experience administering LTIP programs, including stock options and RSU/PSU vesting, is required
- Ability to prepare cost breakdowns by department and GL for accounting purposes
- Experience with SAP SuccessFactors HRIS is a plus
